From 12 to 14 February 2026, the SynMech Consortium gathered in Trieste for an intensive and inspiring in‑person meeting. Bringing together researchers from all 8 partner institutions, the event provided an invaluable opportunity to reconnect, exchange updates, and advance our shared vision for synaptic mechanogenetics.
Over the course of the meeting, each partner presented the progress of their work packages and scientific contributions. These sessions highlighted the achievements already made across the consortium and allowed us to discuss open questions, align methodologies, and identify points of synergy between teams.
A central part of the meeting was dedicated to coordination on key objectives, addressing upcoming milestones, and planning next steps for the project. Through focused discussions and collaborative breakout groups, we refined strategies for experimental integration, data sharing, dissemination activities, and overall project cohesion.
The Trieste meeting also strengthened the community aspect of SynMech. Informal exchanges, shared meals, and lab visits helped reinforce connections that are essential for a multidisciplinary effort of this scale.
We are grateful to all participants for their energy, commitment, and contributions to a truly productive event.
